Joomla! Custom Fields allow you to easily manage standard data appearing on multiple articles. For example, you may have articles in a category called "People" that display each person's name, title, email address, office, phone number, and other basic information. Moving these common details into Custom Fields makes it easier to add this information, and also results in a more consistent layout for your website.
If you would like to use custom fields in your website, please submit a REQUEST. We will add the fields, then you can move the information from the article's content are to the custom fields. We will then create a Latest News Enhanced menu item displaying these articles, with their the custom fields, in an attractive layout.

In this example, the component Latest News Enhanced is displaying articles in the "Faculty Category." Because the data are in custom fields, it is much easier to display them all with the same format. The custom fields shown for each faculty member are:
- Image
- Name
- Title
- Degree
- Email address
- Office
- Phone number
- Research Interests

Adding Content to Custom Fields
If your website has custom fields already set up, you should see a tab when editing articles that belong to a category for which Custom Fields have been configured. The name of the tab should correspond to the type of custom fields being entered. In the above examples, there would be a tab with a name such as "People" or "People Fields." In the below screenshot, the tab is called "Sample Fields." Click on the tab, then enter or select the correct values for each custom field.
Entering data into Custom Fields is similar to completing a form. Since you only need to enter data into each field, you don't need to worry about formatting the content to make it look consistent across articles.
