If you are using Thunderbird as your mail software, please follow our specific Thunderbird Instructions.
This guide is meant to help users that use non-standard e-mail software. Currently the SAS IT Office
fully supports only the Thunderbird and Zimbra Web clients. However, since our systems use standard
mail protocols, most mail clients have the ability to connect. Unless you are using Outlook or Outlook
Express (which we've found to have significant security and stability issues), we'll be happy to assist
you in configuring other mail clients if you are unable to get your program to work after reading this document.
All mail software requires the configuration of two mail servers -- one for incoming and one for outgoing.
Note: Username is the same username that you would use to login to the main
Zimbra Web Client, otherwise known as your full e-mail address.

Note: Some software will have a checkbox that gives you the option of using
the same username and password for outgoing mail as is used for incoming mail.
If you choose this option you won't need to enter the username and password in this section.
Port: 465 (You can also use 25 if using TLS instead of SSL, as indicated below.)
