This document explains how to update published DOCman documents with new files, on web sites using the SAS Content Management System (CMS; Joomla! 3.x) with the DOCman document manager component for Joomla! installed.


1. Updating a Document with a New File of the Same Name

If you need to upload an updated version of a file after you have already uploaded and published it to your web site, all you need to do is replace the original file:

  • Click on the "Components" menu, and select "DocMan" > "Files:"

  • Click the "Upload" icon" to the upper left: DOCman: Upload button
  • An Upload files to Root popup window will appear.
  • Make sure "Upload from: Computer" is selected in the upper left (see #1 below)
  • You can either drag your file to the Drag files here area in the middle of the popup window (see #2 below), or click the Choose File button at the bottom of the popup window (see #3 below).
  • If you clicked the Choose File button, locate your document in the File Upload window. When you find the file, click Open.

  • Click the Start Upload button in the lower right corner of the popup window: DOCman: Start upload
  • Click OK when asked if you want to overwrite the file with the same name that already exists:

  • When the document has been uploaded, the Upload files to Root popup window will show Status for the filename as 100% (see #1 below). 
  • Close the Upload files to Root popup window by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner (see #2 below).

  • Your document should now be updated with the new file.

2. Updating a Document with a New File of a Different Name

You may need to replace a DOCman document with a file of a different name.  The process is similar to the above, but with a few extra steps.

  • Click on the "Components" menu, and select "DocMan" > "Files:"

  • Click the "Upload" icon" to the upper left: DOCman: Upload button
  • An Upload files to Root popup window will appear.

    • Make sure "Upload from: Computer" is selected in the upper left (see #1 below)
    • You can either drag your file to the Drag files here area in the middle of the popup window (see #2 below), or click the Choose File button at the bottom of the popup window (see #3 below).
    • If you clicked the Choose File button, locate your document in the File Upload window. When you find the file, click Open.

  • When the document has been uploaded, the Upload files to Root popup window will show Status for the filename as 100% (see #1 below). 
  • Close the Upload files to Root popup window by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner (see #2 below).

  • Select "Components > DocMan > Documents:"

    Component > DOCman > Documents

  • Click on the title of the document to be updated with the new file.
  • At the Details page, click the Update button to the right of the File setting field (see #1 below):

  • In the popup window that appears, click the Select tab (see #1 below).
  • Select the name of the new file you just uploaded (see #2 below).
  • Click the Insert button to the lower right (see #3 below).
  • Click the Save & Close button at the top (see #2 above).

  • Your document should now be updated with the new file.
